Teacher Instructions

Next Meeting: Tuesday March 24 - 2pm EST, 9pm Doha
Elluminate Link

Week ending Friday March 27

Teacher meeting
Agenda for the meeting:
  1. Multimedia progress - do we need to extend the deadline?
  2. Method for uploading and submitting videos on Master wiki
  3. Student reflection and summit
  4. Judging and awards

Week ending Friday March 20

I just posted this to the Student Instructions....I think it is worth repeating here.
  1. Outsourced video clips need to be completed as soon as possible so that team members can finish their multimedia piece by the deadline. If you have written your name down to do a clip for someone else please COMMUNICATE with them as to WHEN you will be doing this. Don't let them down and not do it as this disadvantages them when they could have been receiving a clip from someone else.
  2. Deadline for all video/final multimedia is Friday March 27.
  3. Add you information to the Master list of Videos when your final piece is uploaded to the Ning

Week ending Friday March 13

  1. Outsourced video
  2. Keynote responses

Week ending Friday February 27

  1. Outsourced video! Requests must go up this week.
  2. Keynote online, please respond

Week ending Friday February 20

  1. Many sections of this wiki have been updated recently. In particular make sure you visit: Keynote, Student Instructions, Rubrics, and All links under the Multimedia Artifact Menu especially Outsourced Video Request
  2. Over the next few days students MUST be deciding their digital story/multimedia artifact/video topic, creating a storyboard and requesting an outsourced video clip. Our timeline is now VERY TIGHT to complete the project so we must continue to move forward.
  3. Wiki editing can continue, and teacher review and feedback of the wikis needs to be ongoing.
  4. Are there any students missing on the Ning, from the FCProject2009-1 Group on the Ning, or on the TEAMS wikis? If so, let the teacher know via the educators Google Group.
  5. Our Keynote will be delivered next week by Dr John Turner. This is another opportunity for students to interact and discuss 'flat world' topics and issues.
  6. This is the time in the project when students start to find the going very tough. Please remind them to READ the information on the wiki. They must read their sub-topic wiki information at The Story, Innovation, Invention, and Prediction or Social Entrepreneurship to understand what the requirements are for their video. Encourage discussion about these on the Ning as well.

Week ending Friday February 13

  1. Use of social bookmarking and Delicious (Diigo)
  2. Use the Project Help wiki where you can (and add to this if you have ideas etc!!). Here is how to cite resources on the wiki. Please ask students to add their resources to the wiki in this way, rather than leave them buried in the discussions.

Week ending Friday February 6

  1. All students should be fully on the Ning, have introduced themselves and found their TEAM members.
  2. All students need to join THIS wiki and start to collaborate on the TEAM wiki. The wikis have had a template added. Make sure you and your students read the template and follow directions for editing.
  3. Review ALL topics and types of videos - The Story, Innovation, Invention, and Prediction, Social Entrepreneurship
  4. Check timeline and add class details to Google Calendar
  5. On the Flat Classroom Project Ning, make sure you have created a Group for your class and encourage all of your students to join this.

Week ending Friday January 23

Teacher meeting January 19 Recording
  1. Now is the time to be finalising all student names on the TEAM GRID (google doc invitation sent to all teachers). Once the student know what team he/she is on they can then find their wiki page (already set up with templates) via the Teams wiki
  2. A good start is to watch the Friedman video where he talks about The World is Flat. This will start conversation and generate ideas about each topic.
  3. Don't forget to share lesson plans and resources via the Lesson Plans wiki.
  4. Social bookmarking: have your students join http://delicious.com and watch Social Bookmarking in Plain English

Week ending Friday January 16

  1. Flat Classroom Project 2009-1 classrooms are finalised. All teachers contacted and confirmed.
  2. A list of student names and teams is established and completed by each participating teacher.
  3. All classroom teachers signed up for Ning and Wiki and joined the Flat Classroom Project 2009-1 group on the Ning.
  4. All classroom teachers signed up for Flat Classroom Project Google Group (this is a VERY important step as we need to know you are receiving all communications through this teacher-only forum).
  5. Research permission forms distributed to teachers, filled in by students and collected by teachers to keep on file. external image vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document.png generic_flatclassroom_consentform.docx
  6. Teachers have ALL participating students join the Flat Classroom Project 2009-1 Wiki and Flat Classroom Project Ning
